BWAA Activities

 

    • Donating baskets of books to local elementary schools and child care centers 
    • Collecting school supplies to give to local schools          
    • Sponsoring bus trips to Atlantic City, New York City or other locations  
    • Donating shoe boxes of toys and supplies to the Samaritan's Purse "Operation Christmas Child" project for children in other countries

    • Donating money to the Times Union Hope Fund

    • Adopting a family in need for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays
    • Inviting women in leadership positions to speak on topics of interest  

    • Having Scholarship Fundraisers
    • Supporting other human service agencies and civic organizations  

    • Attending educational and cultural events such as plays, films, Kwanzaa and Martin Luther King Day celebrations  
    • Serving as judges for the "Black History Month Creative Expression Contest"
    • Celebrating Women's History Month at WAMC Performing Arts Center  

    • Recognizing local "Women of Distinction” with awards for their service  
    • Presenting Marian I. Hughes Scholarships to female high school students
    • Enjoying holiday dinner and gift exchange for BWAA members
